Jess Of Thymewithjess
Jess and I met in LA during a conference we both attend yearly.
She is one of the ONLY wellness/food/lifestyle "influencers" I follow-mostly because she seemed like a normal personal and not a robot preaching about organic water. Eye roll. Not only is Jess a down-to-earth hell of a cook, photographer, entrepreneur, and coach, but she is also fun and funnnnnnny. I never really wanted to make new best friends in my 30's but as the universe would have it, here we are! I hope you are inspired to aim high always, just as she has.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, what you do, something you’re working on, and something you secretly enjoy?
My name is Jess, and I'm a high-profile private chef based in Los Angeles. I have been cooking for some of the coolest people in Los Angeles for the past 4 years. I'm currently working on launching a product - it was set to launch this summer, however, due to the current state and devastation of the world, it's pushed back. That's okay though, it's giving me time to work on another endeavor I have been scared to attack, bless "safer at home!" What do I secretly enjoy? Every Taylor Swift song ever created.
What is your sun, moon, and rising sign? In what ways do you identify with each?
I had to refer to my co-start app, I'm terrible at this whole astrology thing, but I think it's fun. I'm Pisces sun, Pisces moon, and Scorpio rising - did I say that right? Hahaha, probably all of the Pisces, generous, amiable, positive, deep sense of kindness/compassion, and I'm extremely empathetic - that last one is a blessing and a curse. I don't know anything about Scorpios so I looked it up, and well, emotional, imaginative, intense, passionate, and intuitive for sure. WOW! That's a lot, moving on.
Describe yourself in five words!
Loyal, reliable, creative, innovative & tenacious
Top three favorite movies?
OMG! Only THREE!
True Romance

What does Health + Wellness mean to you?
In short, it encompasses mental + physical + emotional health. Body positivity is not defined by any moral ascription & eating all organic does not equate to health and wellness. It's how you choose to show up daily for your health whether that be physical, mental or emotional!
In the midst of everything that is happening in the world right now, including the pandemic, how do you find solace while remaining aware?
To be honest, the first week this was all happening I succumbed to perpetual consumption of social media and every and all news articles. I realize that this was my way of coping and I made it a point not to judge myself. I'm getting used to my "new normal" and I'm selective with what type of media I choose to consume and make it a point not to check social media upon waking up, although that should have been a habit pre-pandemic. How do I find Solace? Well, that's a loaded question. I have found comfort in the fact that the entire world has practically stopped, but that also doesn't negate the heaviness of the world and all the hurt and suffering that's taking place right now. Just because a pandemic is happening doesn't mean that pain and suffering never existed prior to this, it did. I'd like to think that this type of experience will elicit worldwide change, but it won't. I find solace in knowing that A LOT of people will choose to change individual habits, myself included.
And finally, what does sisterhood/feminism mean to you + why is it important?
To me, sisterhood/feminism, means you fight for the equality of all people. There is a lot of gender-based inequality and it's simply not fair!
